Camille and Laura is a hand-drawn, narrative point and click about the daily life of a single mother from Montreal. It takes inspiration from the aesthetics of children shows like Peppa Pig and PJ Masks to tell a simple, human story about regular struggles. The game is solo-developed and received a financial help from the Canada Council for the Arts.

DESCRIPTION

It’s Camille’s first week of elementary school, one of the most important weeks in any children’s life. Take the role of Laura, Camille’s mother, as she tries her best to be an exemplary mother for her small family. Go to work, do daily chores, and try as you might to raise your kid the best way you can.

Camille and Laura is an honest look at the realities of life and daily struggles. Solo developed and inspired by kids shows, I wanted to make a game that could be both filled with fun, childish excitement, while recognizing the extreme isolation and grind of adult life.

It is a short narrative game that will take under an hour and a half to complete.

ABOUT ME

Hi! I am a solo developer from Montreal. Camille and Laura is my first commercial project, I worked on a prototype more than three years ago and just recently received a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts which gave me the opportunity to work full time on my project. I previously worked on A Game About and others small hobby projects. Prior to work on my time full time, I was working as an assistant-editor in the Montreal film scene. Working on the localisation of children shows greatly inspired me in working on Camille and Laura.

I am an avid fan of boring euro-cinema, sad literature, weirdo video games and overlong board games. My games are meant to straddle the line between artsy games and common design concepts. Talking about design and art is one of my favorite activity and I will always make time to guest on a podcast if I can.

I’m also an organizer for the Pixels et Poutine montreal devs group and have been a mentor in a few gamejams.
